I have no idea how I could ever describe my love for Jeremy. He is one fantastic, caring, loving, self-less, righteous, honest, funny, charming, handsome, smart, endearing, and incredible man!
Jeremy and I met while our roommates were dating. It was the beginning of the fall semester. I was starting my senior year and had decided I had absolutely no time for dating and "dumb" guys. I needed to focus on my student teaching and finding a good job. I had all my plans laid out, I was going to work hard, suck up to my professors, graduate in the top of my class and get a great job in Las Vegas where they paid good money (remember we are talking in teacher salary terms).
I really didn't think anything of the tall, blonde, tanned, buff guy who was one of my roommates, boyfriends groupies. I pretty much dismissed him because he was from Idaho, newly returned from his mission, and just starting his collage career (completely undecided on a major). If and it was a big IF I was going to be looking for someone he was going to be tall, dark and handsome, from anywhere BUT Idaho, in his senior year also, and going out in some great money making thing like business or pre-med.
After he kept hanging out at our apartment and following me around like a lost puppy I realized he had a thing for me. I tried so hard not to be nice to him or lead him on, I really wasn't interested. He'll tell you I was really rude, but sometimes you have to be right? Anyway, this being rude and aloof thing wasn't working very well because well Jeremy is such a fun and nice guy it was growing harder and harder to be mean. I felt like I was kicking a puppy every time I was short with him. Besides I could feel deep down inside of me that there was something different about this guy than any other guy I had ever met before, at the time of course I would never had acknowledged that feeling but now I know exactly why I felt that way.
He finally got up the nerve and asked me out on a date. How could I say no to those big brown eyes that were so sweet and innocent? I knew I would feel like dirt if I didn't just go on one date with this poor guy, so I conceded. It was such a fun date! He took me to this great little Italian restaurant (smart considering I love Italian) and then we played Laser Tag with the dating roommates and then a chick flick after. He so played all his cards right!! We had a blast together, Jeremy was so easy to talk to, it was a very calm and comfortable date, not awkward at all. Jeremy has that great ability to make you feel so good about yourself. The best part was that he was a complete gentleman, barely even a hug at the door.
We kept on dating casually, I didn't want to admit to myself what I was feeling inside for him. I know now I was afraid, literally shaking in my boots as to where this relationship would lead. I kept trying to find reasons to break it off and I was really cruel to him on several occasions (something now I deeply regret), but however hard I tried to let him go and be done with the whole thing I just couldn't. He was too perfect for me. I knew that guys like Jeremy didn't come around that often, he was absolutely wonderful and I needed to take a chance on him and stop being scared. Once I figured out what I wanted the rest is history.
We dated for a few more months got engaged (if you've read our letter you know that story) and then married in the Salt Lake Temple six months later.
Deciding to marry Jeremy is the best decision I have ever made. I am so grateful to have an honest, hard-working man who loves the Lord and always tries to do what is right. He is such an excellent father, I watch him with Halle and I am amazed at his patience. I don't know why the Lord decided to bless me with such a wonderful man, but one thing is for sure I will thank Him every day of my life for being able to be Jeremy's eternal companion.
